MINEHEAD, who parted company with manager Craig Carr earlier this month, will be looking to improve on ninth position in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League when they play at home to Westfield on Saturday, November 1 (3p.m.).

Westfield are down in 12th place, having won only two of their nine matches this season. They lost 2-0 at home to Peasedown Miners Welfare last weekend.

Regarding a new manager, Minehead chairman Jason Hill said: “I can confirm that discussions are underway, and we’re hopeful to have the right team in place ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Westfield.. “In the meantime, we’re confident our coaching team will guide the team through the initial stages of the transition period, allowing us to make the best decision for the club’s short and long-term success.”

The first division table is headed by Portishead Town Reserves who are unbeaten and top the division on goal difference from Ashcott, who won at Minehead last weekend.

Meanwhile Watchet Town, bottom of the Premier Division and minus three points after calling off three matches earlier this season, play at home to Yatton & Cleeve United, with a 2p.m. kick-off.

Watchet have lost all seven of their league matches but have been competitive in their last two fixtures - against Chard Town (3-0 at home) and Worle (1-0 away).

The seasiders will be missing Ben Robinson and Brandon Walsh, who are both unavailable, but Josh Aspey will be back at full back after suspension.

Yatton, who are lying seventh but have played more games than other teams in the division, beat Somerton Town 4-1 at home last weekend.

Nailsea United are the only unbeaten side in the division and have a one-point lead at the top over second-placed Wells City Reserves, both sides having played the same number of games.
