MINEHEAD fought out a 2-2 away draw with Galmington Dragons Raiders in Division Two of the Taunton & District Youth Football League.
From the first whistle, Minehead seized control of the game, piling pressure on the Galmington defence.
The visitors kept their foot on the gas, with Charlie Mossman carving out another golden opportunity inside three minutes but was denied by a great save.
Galmington hit back with a spell of pressure of their own, testing the Minehead back line of Harley Reeder, Lennon Howe, Edward How, and Elliot Hooks.
On 15 minutes, the breakthrough finally came. Cass Heley whipped in a perfect pass, and Jake Wyre made no mistake — calmly smashing home to give Minehead a deserved 1–0 lead.
Then, against the run of play in the 25th minute, Galmington’s persistence with the long ball finally paid off — a lapse in Minehead’s defence allowing the hosts to pounce and draw level at 1–1 - which remained the score at the interval.
Minehead continued to dominate possession, controlling the midfield and probing for openings, but Galmington’s back line held firm.
The second half began badly for Minehead when, two minutes after the restart, Galmington pounced on a lapse in concentration, breaking through the visitors’ defence to edge ahead 2–1.
Galmington continued to press, forcing another smart save from the ever-reliable Jake Alford in goal , who calmly gathered the ball and launched a pinpoint pass from the back.
Minehead kept pressing for the equaliser which they thought they’d got when Wyre found the back of the net for a second time only for his effort to be ruled offside.
Minutes later, however, Minehead were awarded a penalty which Wyre stepped up for and made no mistake, confidently dispatching the spot-kick to level the score at 2–2 which is how the game ended.
