WATCHET Town were beaten 3-0 away by Chard Town in their second match of the season in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League.
The visitors made a promising start playing up the notorious Chard slope before failure to clear their lines from a set piece cost them dearly as the home side netted from close range.
More indecision at the back saw them go 2-0 down before the half hour mark. Watchet continued to try hard after the break without creating much and they were indebted to keeper Vinnie Jones for a series of one-on-one saves which kept the score down either side of Chard adding a third goal.
Watchet Town: Vinnie Jones, Aerron Clausen, Charley Clausen, Harry Crossman, Josh Aspey, Nigel Merrick, Aaron Scott, Adam Jefferies, Lewis Clavey, Billy Jones, Alfie Cox. Subs: Kieran Bailey, Benji Gant, Chase Clausen .
Meanwhile, Watchet play away to Wells City Reserves in a league match on Saturday, August 23.
