MINEHEAD, whose manager Matt Harris departed the club in midweek, gained a 1-1 away draw with Westfield in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League yesterday (Sat).

Minehead took the lead within the first five minutes, Guy Burns competently beating the keeper after a perfect assist from Toby Waghorn.

The hosts equalised on the hour when a defensive header back to his keeper by teenager Bertie Harvey-Larmar evaded Vinnie Jones who had already come off the goal-line to collect the ball, which bounced a few times before reaching the empty net.

Westfield, seeking only their second victory since September, pushed hard for a winner but Minehead, with several youngsters on display, held out for a largely deserved point.

Neighbours Watchet stay second in Division One despite being without a match.
