ROADWATER notched up their third victory of the season in Division Two of the West Somerset Cricket League when they made the trip to nearby Stogumber and came away with an 111- run victory.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first the visitors were given a good start by openers Mark Bolton and Vishnu Kombath. When Kombath was bowled by Yaw for 22 Kieren Roberts joined Bolton and shared another partnership before Roberts went for 30. Ross Cornish, who made 64 , also added runs with Bolton who eventually was out for 72 after which Joe Murch who was unbeaten on 31 and Rob Trapnell 33 not out remained together to see Roadwater to 288 for five from their allotted 40 overs,
Peter Horton with two wickets for 60 runs from his nine overs was the pick of the home attack.
When Stogumber replied skipper Eli Hayes led from the front and shared in several valuable partnerships including one with fellow opener Horton who made 18. He then added runs with Ben Rexworthy and Jake Watson who both made 14. Hayes was eventually out for 50 - his second half century of the league this season before he was caught and bowled by Joe Murch after which Elliott Brick hit 17 and Heinrich Laage an unbeaten 19, before Stogumber were all out for 177 in 35.3 overs.
Trapnell was the pick of the bowlers taking three for 15 from his five overs, while Murch ended with three or 40 from his nine, and Jack White two for 32 from 4.3 overs.
This coming weekend Stogumber, who are fifth in the league table, travel away to play against Churchinford who are one place below them, while third placed Roadwater are at home to Sampford Arundel, who currently find themselves fourth.
