STOGUMBER made the journey to Stoke St Mary on Saturday afternoon where they notched up their third win of the season in Division Two of the West Somerset League at the end of a low scoring game.

After being asked to bat first, despite some useful contributions from George Johnson who made 23, Joe Hardy with 22 and 19 from Dan Callow, nobody went onto build an innings and the home side were all out for 110 in 27.4 overs.

Pick of the bowlers for the visitors was Eli Hayes who took four wickets for 12 runs from his 4.4 overs, of which two were maidens, while opening bowlers Jake Watson ended with two for 32 from his seven and M Richings took two for 15 - also off seven..

When Stogumber replied they lost Elliott Brick early on with the total on 10 before Hayes was joined by Ben Rexworthy. The pair proceeded to add 59 for the second wicket before Hayes was out for 36, which came off 34 balls with five 4s.

Rexworthy remained at the wicket and despite losing several partners was there at the finish to see Stogumber to 111 for five in the 22nd over, by which time he was unbeaten on 55, his runs coming off 63 balls and included four 4s and three 6s.

Pick of the home attack was Ben Gray who claimed four of the five wickets to fall for 26 runs from his seven overs, one of which was a maiden.

This coming weekend Stogumber, who are third in the Division Two table, are involved in a local derby match against table toppers Crowcombe who have won five of their six matches, while Stoke St Mary are away at Sampford Arundel.
