TWO of Minehead Cricket Club’s junior sides were in action in the Taunton & District Youth League over last weekend with mixed results. Minehead Under 11s travelled to play against Trull at their Dipford Road ground on Sunday.

The visitors gave a much improved all round display but were unable to take victory as Trull scored 282 to Minehead’s 255. Player of the Match was awarded to Daisy .

On Monday evening Minehead Under 15s hosted Taunton Deane Pumas in what turned out to be a very competitive match, with the result in doubt right up until the end.

After losing the toss and being put into bat first Minehead got off to a really good start with Sam (21) and Harry (34) both striking the ball well and putting on 60 for the opening partnership.

However wickets then began to fall and they slipped to 74 for five before Logan came to the rescue. He remained at the crease for the rest of the innings, adding 31 for the sixth wicket with Cameron (11), 26 with Lewis for the eighth (7) and an unbroken stand of 29 for the last wicket with Finlay who remained 9 not out.

By the time the 20 overs were up Minehead had reached 164 for nine with Logan unbeaten on 57 off 34 balls with five 4s and three 6s.

In reply the Pumas openers batted well and took their team onto 47- a good position but after C Barker had to retire on 50 and B Frowde also retired on 51 Minehead were able to get back into the match and secured the win by just two runs. Player of the match was Logan.

This was a really exciting match so very well done to everyone who played their part in helping to get a victory.
