MINEHEAD Cricket Club’s Under 11s and Under 15s both enjoyed good victories in the Taunton & District Youth Cricket League over the weekend.

The Buccaneers (Under 11s) hosted Over Stowey in Under 11 West A, at the end of which it was the home team who notched up their first victory of the season. Lola was voted Player of the Match for her three wickets, while Noah top scored in a nett total of 243 to help his side win by seven runs.

Victory enabled the Buccaneers to move up to fifth in the table while Stowey slipped back to seventh place. The current leaders are Taunton Rebels who beat Brompton Ralph by 180 runs to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

The Under 11 team that beat Over Stowey included Jess, Joshua, Chester, Noah, Lola, Holly, Seb and Sam

Forthcoming fixtures in this division include: Brompton Ralph v Trull, Over Stowey v Taunton Deane Greens, Taunton Deane Falcons v Taunton Rubens, Taunton Vulcans v Minehead Buccaneers.

The Under 15s enjoyed a huge win in Under 15 11 a side by 126 runs against Bridgwater Red Sox. Batting first Minehead openers Harry S and Sam put on 91 before Sam was out for 36. Harry S retired on 51 as Lennon 37 and Harry P 27 continued the onslaught as Minehead closed 171 for 6.

Red Sox struggled from the start as Harry P took four wickets and Logan two as the home side were bowled out for only 45 in 12 overs. This was a great performance in all disciplines by the Minehead team.

Taunton Deane Tigers, always a very strong team, top the table, having a one-point lead over Taunton St Andrews.
