MINEHEAD Cricket Club’s Under 15s continued their impressive run of form in the Taunton & District Youth League on Sunday morning when they travelled to North Curry and came away with an 86-run victory.
Batting first at White Street Sports Field in this 11-a-side competition, the visitors got off to a brilliant start, thanks to a partnership of 125 between openers Sam C who retired on 53 which he scored off 39 balls with eight 4s and Harry S who made 48 off 40 balls with seven 4s and a 6.
Lower in the order Logan chipped in with 14 as Minehead ended posting 161 for seven from their 20 overs.
When North Curry replied they were bowled out for 75 in 15.3 overs, Logan leading the way with four wickets for nine runs while Reiss claimed two and there was one each for Harry P, Sam and Ben. Victory leaves Minehead in second place with four wins from five matches.
On Friday evening the Minehead Under 13s were at home to Glastonbury and, after batting first, the hosts were all out for 57. When the visitors replied Minehead tried hard with their bowling and fielding but were unable to prevent Glastonbury from scoring the winning runs in the ninth over. Oliver took three wickets for Minehead and there should be a special mention for 10 year old Laurie who stood in at the last minute and was joint top scorer.
On Sunday the Under 1’s were disappointed not to play as their intended visitors Brompton Ralph were unable to raise a team.
This coming weekend Minehead Under 13s travel away to play Taunton Deane Falcons on Friday evening. On Sunday morning Minehead Under 15s are in action against Taunton St Andrews away at the Wyvern Club, while the Under 11s host their Taunton St Andrews counterparts at Luttrell Way.
