MINEHEAD 2nd XI continued their fine form on Saturday with a 205-run win at North Newton.

They batted first and openers Angus Marsh (44) and Robbie Garwood (19) got them off to a watchful start as they looked to accumulate runs against the new ball pairing of Barham (1-41) and Skuse (4-34).

With their departure, Jason Abbott (40) and Alastair Harrison picked up the baton with Harrison looking in especially good form, finding the boundary with regularity on his way to a fine 87.

Brandon Rawle (38) and Darren Sherring (38) looked to accelerate the run rate heading into the last ten overs, and with both finding the boundary with ease they gave their side a very competitive total of 291 all out from 43.2 overs.

In reply, the North Newton innings never gained momentum as the ever reliable Jack Sully ripped out the top order including top scorer Stone (20) with a fine spell of 4-20 from his nine overs.

He was well backed up by fellow opener Gav Paviour (0-28) before Sherring picked up three wickets, and Jack Richards was on hand to wrap up the innings with 3-9 off six overs, leaving the hosts 86 all out in just 30 overs.

Minehead are now second in the table and welcome strugglers Barrington tomorrow (Saturday) as they look to close the gap at the top.
