MINEHEAD Cricket Club hosted their End of Season Presentation Night at the Tithe Barn in Dunster which was attended by 75 members and friends. Andrew Stevens reported that 2025 had been a good year and it was pleasing that the club fielded three teams on a regular basis, which was thanks to several new members and the strength of the Junior Section. At the end of the 2025 season the First XI finished in fifth place in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League. The Second XI, who competed in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League and ended in sixth place with six wins to their name, while the Third XI finished in seventh position in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League. For the first time in their history MCC took part in the Baker Cup 20 over competition, a journey that started with an exciting one wicket victory at Ashbrittle. Later presentations were made to the following - Josh Hurley who won the First XI player of the year after scoring over 500 runs at an average of 36.79, with a best of 125 not out against Castle Cary. Oli Ahern won the Second XI player of the year, after totalling 466 runs for the season at an average of 25.89 which included a best of 85 not out against Wiveliscombe. Jithin Rajan won the Third XI player of the year year after taking 30 wickets at 11.93 with a best of 6/11 v Wiveliscombe and scoring 150 runs at 21.43 with a highest of 57. First XI captain Dan Bowditch won the Somerset Cricket League Premier Division Players’ Player of the season, which is a significant accolade - so well done to Dan. Next on the agenda for Minehead Cricket Club is the 2025 Annual General Meeting on Monday, 2nd December.
