FITZHEAD Seconds are now top of the table following their victory over their Spaxton counterparts and Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood’s defeat to Over Stowey Seconds.

Ryan Mullins (3-12) reduced Spaxton to 9-3, and although they recovered somewhat thanks to Charlie May’s 55, it was soon 87-7 with all four falling to Sam Gregson Brown (5-26).

Bits and pieces from Tyler Pople (17), Chloe Ching (15) and Kian Hayman (17) got the villagers up to 142 all out.

Gregson Brown then made 26 alongside fellow opener Garry Alford (35).Wickets then fell but Attius Mclaughlin (30) and Mullins (27no) held their nerve despite Kian Hayman (3-15) and James Merrick (2-11) sharing five wickets.

At Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood, the hosts failed to chase down the visitors’ 174-9.

Over Stowey’s total was built around forties from Mark Sortwell (46) and Steve Easden (44no), while Paul Every (3-31) and Charith Liyanagamage (2-24) had fruitful afternoons.

The home side then found themselves 93-6 with only Roger Kallaway (17), Every (25) and Liyanagamage (15) getting starts.

Lewis Bond (3-31) and Anthony Lock (3-52) did most of the damage and although Chris Corfield (39 off 65) and Peter Endersby (25no off 49) dug in, nobody could get Easden (2-14 off 9) away as they were held to 160-9.

Wiveliscombe Seconds thrashed their Roadwater counterparts by 164 runs having racked up 288-9 which included seventies from Neal Gliddon (76) and Jack Warren (75), plus 49 from just 21 balls from opener Josh Fyfe.
