THE West Somerset League saw Minehead A beat local rivals Williton by five shots, 56-51.
K Powls, D Stevens and R Thompson won 18-17; T Everett, G Thorpe and J Lennon lost 15-17; and N Cox, J Ware and S Sully won 23-17.
In the same league, Minehead B had a convincing 58-49 win at home to Burnham A, taking all three rinks.
J Dodd, J Munson and N Ackland won 16-15; J Bates, L Dawson and B Rawnsley won 22-16; and A Blackmore, C Hales and R Carlin won 20-18.
In the Wedmore Plate, Minehead lost on all four rinks at home to Taunton.
J Munson, J Ware, R Carlin and J Lennon lost 18-19; T Everett, T Hill, M Palmer and G Thorpe lost 16-19; K Powls, D Stevens, N Cox and R Thompson lost 16-17; and J Bates, A Blackmore, M Keough and R Clavey lost 14-25.
l Watchet’s run in the Turnbull Cup came to an end last Tuesday at home to Ilminster.
With a few changes to the side which played in the previous round, the rinks were shared against the in-form visitors, but the beaten rinks lost quite heavily and Ilminster finished winners by 24 shots, 94-70.
L Allen, R Groves, M Webber and L Townsend lost 15-24; R Hooper, N Chidgey, A Rendell and I Trunks won 25-15; D Steel, J Hall, J Groves and N Williams lost 6-40; and A Knight, S Slade, R Rendell and S Steel won 24-15.
Last Thursday evening saw Watchet go to Bridgwater B in the West Somerset League and they soon found out why their opponents are top of their division as they won 57-33 and claimed ten points to Watchet’s two.
The result sealed the division title for Bridgwater, but Watchet could still be promoted with them if they win their next match by eight or more points.
L Allen, N Chidgey and M Webber won 19-15; C Williams, A McKay and M Arnold lost 9-19; and H Edwards, T Harrod and R Somerfield lost 5-23.
Watchet A went to Portishead RBL on Saturday in the Somerset County League hoping for a win to keep their promotion chances alive, but they managed to win on only one rink and went down 64-42 overall.
J Groves, S Slade, M Webber and S Steel lost 12-24; L Allen, J Trunks, L Townsend and N Williams lost 10-28; and R Hooper, D Steel, R Rendell and I Trunks won 20-12.
In South and South West Division One, Watchet B were away to Minehead A in a derby, and on a green where Watchet struggled with the running and bowled short, Minehead won quite easily on two of the three rinks and 65-47 overall.

l Saturday saw Williton travel to play Yeovil B in a Somerset County League match and they won on all three rinks and 81-36 overall as they took all 12 points.
R Bruford, M Grogan, C Penner and A Sully won 26-13; C Thorne, T Beardon, D Donald and C Harrod won 25-8; and A Cane, A Harrod, R Mitchell and Derek Sully won 30-15.
l South Molton visited Porlock for a six triples Hale Trophy game last Wednesday and won four of the rinks and 115-90 overall.
J Connolly, D Whitham and M Sage lost 23-14; M Timbrell, J Biddiscombe and R Prince lost 17-16; S Whitham, E Mills and D Dascombe lost 18-11; P Savory, J Chiswell and I Glanville won 17-16; G Shaw, P Passmore and J Mathieson won 22-15; and R Chiswell, J Beer and R Rogers lost 10-26.
Porlock held their annual mixed triples competition on Saturday and the winners were J Connolly, E Mills and I Glanville with a maximum six points, followed by G Shaw, J Mathieson and K Derham with four.
