MINEHEAD and West Somerset Swimming Club has received a welcome boost from newsagents McColls.

The manager of the company’s Minehead shop, Angela Attwell, nominated the club for a £130 donation through McColls’ Making a Difference Locally Scheme.

And she’s pictured (left) handing the cheque over to club secretary Carole Pearse, who thanked the company for its generosity and said the club planned to spend the money on equipment for their swimmers.

The club welcome young swimmers with the ambition to compete in their team or who just wishing to attend regular training sessions. These are held at Butlin’s on Mondays and Tuesdays 6-8pm and Fridays 6.30-8.30pm.
