ALCOMBE Rovers have applied to rejoin the Taunton Saturday Football League.

The West Somerset club, once one of the biggest teams in the league, made a surprise announcement last September that they were ending their 75 year association with the league.

In a statement, the club said at the time: "This is all with the hope that over the next couple of seasons a group of players and management want to resurrect the club.

"Thank you to all our supporters and ex-players for their support over the years. We are sorry to let you down but we hope this is not the end of our fantastic club."

Alcombe are one of two sides applying to enter this coming season, the other being Dunwear of Bridgwater.

Westonzoyland are pulling out of the Premier Division after finishing third last season, losing only four of their 20 league matches.

The league will be holding its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 27.
