MINEHEAD Tennis Club’s mixed C team played their first away match of the season against Wellington C in the fourth Division of the West Somerset Tennis League.

Andy and Yung Sook, playing first pair in the mixed played very well winning the first set 6-3 and holding the lead in the second set winning it 7-6.  Paul and Corinne lost both sets 6-3, 6-4.

The men’s pairing of Andy Fay and Paul Rees won convincingly against Nick Gilding and Charles St. George 6-0, 6-4. Yung Sook Bradley and Corinne Rees lost the ladies 6-3, 6-1.  At the half way stage the sets were drawn 2 sets all.

As the sets were drawn 4-4 at the end of the evening the extra point went to Wellington for winning one more game than Minehead.  The points scored were Wellington 37 and Minehead 36.

Anybody who is interested in playing tennis is welcome to come along to the club on Saturday afternoons to join in with Rusty Rackets. The cost is £2.50 and membership is not necessary.  Play starts at 2pm. 

Rusty Rackets provides a great platform to play tennis and it is a great way to learn to play the game and socialise in a friendly club atmosphere.
