ALL thoughts of the sizzling summer were long forgotten on Wednesday August 15, as competitors gathered with their exhibits for Withypool Flower Show – in drizzle.
Entries were slightly up on the last few years and the organisers were encouraged to see new names among the prize winners, alongside many regular contributors.
The judges had some difficult decisions to make in all sections but, after much discussion, it was the colourful cockerel crafted from fruit and vegetables by ten-year-old Amy Howard that caught their imagination and was awarded ‘best in show’.
As the day improved, people gathered for the fete held in conjunction with the show. All the usual stalls and sideshows were enjoyed by locals and visitors alike with the children’s races proving more popular than ever.
The organisers would like to thank the judges, exhibitors and all those who helped and supported the event in any way. A substantial, as yet unknown, amount was raised for the Village Hall.
