A Yeovil solicitor has completed a charity walk covering a distance of more than two marathons.

Gareth Isaac spent more than two days doing the walk, which took him from the mouth of River Parrett on the Bristol Channel coast to Lyme Regis.

The main purpose of the walk was to help raise money for Yeo Vale Rotary Club's Mufulira project.

Mufulira is a town in northern Zambia close to the border with Congo. The area suffers from high unemployment and a large part of the population is HIV positive.

As a result, there are many orphaned and poorly supported children.

The Yeo Vale club is working with Rotary's Mufulira branch on the project - which involves equipping a community school, moving children into further education and helping orphans in various ways.

Mr Isaac, who is the vice president of the Yeo Vale club, said: "We are often preoccupied with our own problems in this country and forget how fortunate we are in comparison with people in other parts of the world.

"The desperate problems of the people of Zambia should not be forgotten or underestimated."
