Yeovil District Hospital has made it onto a list of the 40 best performing hospitals in the UK, at the second attempt.
Each of the top 40 hospitals was presented with the CHKS Award at a recent ceremony in Birmingham.
The annual award, which is based on data from the previous year, is only in its second year.
Hospitals are judged on 15 different performance indicators in areas such as discharge times, missed appointments, waiting lists etc.

A spokesperson said that about 175 hospitals had been measured for this year's award, adding the Yeovil hospital had not made it onto last year's list.
Commenting on this year's achievement, East Somerset NHS Trust chairman Angela Dupont said: "I am absolutely delighted to receive this award on behalf of the trust. It is yet another indication of the commitment of all our staff to improve services for patients.
"It is also recognition of the good leadership which comes from our management team. We will continue to focus on what is important for patients - reduced waiting times and improved clinical services."
The general manager for surgery at the hospital, Nemesia Cave, accompanied chairman Dupont to the award ceremony in Birmingham.
