SIR — I have previously voiced my opinion in your publication about the Brexit vote and how it will alienate Britain from Europe - countries we have fought together with, been welcome to live in, and traded billions of pounds with.

We have decided to rebuff these European friends and, with the proposed Hinkley Point expansion, jump into bed with the Chinese.

China is a country with appalling human rights, executing hundreds of people a year – however much this country needs electricity, relying on such a country is morally wrong.
