SIR — The parade for Watchet's Remembrance Sunday service will be slightly rearranged this year to encompass the town's new memorial. The parade will mass on The Esplanade around 2.15pm to march off at 2.30pm along The Esplanade and up Swain Street to the Methodist Church for the service. From there, weather permitting, the wreaths will be laid at the memorial on Harbour Road. Thanks to Watchet's Royal British Legion for organising this year's parade. People can remember their loved ones at the memorial from 10.30am on November 11, with a minute's silence at 11am. On the evening of November 11, there will be a informative World War One talk, including a soup and roll supper, at the Methodist Schoolrooms in Harbour Road, Watchet, the cost of £1.50 going to the Poppy Appeal. There will be memorabilia on display, a talk and a film on submarine warfare, where you can hear tales of the formidable U-boats and how they hindered our valiant sailors and servicemen. Local World War One historians and Somerset Light Infantry experts Darren Berry and Justin Blundell will be telling us the history of the war, from the men in the trenches to home life in Somerset. They will bring the era to life and will be dressed in authentic World War One uniforms. Please come, and tell your friends, it will be a night to remember.
