POOR weather affected numbers for Watchet’s first Santa fun run on Sunday (December 7) but more than £700 was still raised on the day.

Runners included 86-year-old Val Norman, who completed all 10 laps of the war memorial recreation ground, more than five kilometres, raising £300-plus in sponsorship.

The final fund-raising figure will not be known until all sponsorship money has been collected.

Organiser Lori Lee said: “We were fortunate to receive funding from Somerset Association of Local Councils via Watchet Town Council to run the event.

“Money raised will support the recreation ground charity and means this event can now be an annual event.”

Fastest adult 10 laps was Thomas Nicholas Wright; fastest youngster Milo Shopland; best festive outfit Suzette Jones and child Finley Nicholas-Wright.
