YOUNGSTERS at Dunster First School put their new wet weather gear through its paces on a recent walk to the Giant's Chair at the top of nearby Grabbist Hill.
And despite having to cope with rain and snow, the outfits - sponsored by the locally based Somerset Gas Company - passed the test.
The reception class pupils stayed warm and dry in the face of the vagaries of an English March day.
As part of the foundation stage curriculum the children regularly explore the great outdoors on their doorstep, with Forest School activities, games on the school field and walks on Grabbist Hill.

Fortunately, sponsorship was secured and the replacement outfits, emblazoned with the school and Somerset Gas Company logos, were officially handed over during the recent walk.
The company's general manager Joe Lewis, a former Dunster pupil, who accompanied the youngsters on their walk, said: "We were delighted to be able to support Dunster First School by providing the children with the wet weather gear.
"As an ex-pupil my morning with the children brought back happy memories of my time at Dunster."
Headteacher Peter Hoyland said the school was very grateful to Joe and everyone at Somerset Gas for their generous support.
"The outfits look brilliant and will enable the children to continue with their outdoor education whatever the weather."
