Something for everybody in third annual Words in Watchet festivalThe Day of Prayer is celebrated in over 120 countries, each of which has a national committee. Filtering down from the international committee based in New York, organisation is broken down to regional and then local level.
This year’s service, entitled ‘Come – Everything is Ready’, has been prepared by the women of Slovenia.
Its aim is to encourage reflection on the barriers Slovenian women have faced since the end of World War Two, when their country was a part of Yugoslavia. The women share the challenges they have met and the hopes they have for the future.
Two services are being held in Watchet – in St Decuman’s Church at 2pm and The Sanctuary, Swain Street, at 7pm.
People are also invited to the service at St George’s Church, Dunster, at 10.30am. Parking will be available in the Tithe Barn car park, next to the church, and coffee/tea will be available afterwards.
