AFTER a lapse of many years, Wootton Courtenay Gardening Club held a successful flower and produce show in the splendid new village hall.

The enthusiasm of the exhibitors, the generous comments of the afternoon visitors and the complimentary remarks led villagers to hope that this might herald the revival of an annual show.

Ken Durman, the vegetable, fruit and flower judge, remarked on the standard of the exhibits and said that those in the soft fruit and herbaceous perennials classes were outstanding.

And Joan Marriott, who judged the homecraft section, said that the exhibitors would more than hold their own in the prestigious shows of the area.

The organisers said that the undoubted success of the show was entirely due to the support of the exhibitors, most of whom had never shown before.

The newcomers were supported by a few seasoned exhibitors, one of whom entered 28 classes and another well into double figures.
