A WOMAN who drove her Volvo car on a West Somerset road after drinking too much alcohol has been banned from driving for 14 months.

Anna Power, aged 42 of Lower Weston, Bath, was stopped in Bank Street, Williton, on Friday, March 27 and found to have consumed nearly one-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit.

Prosecuting solicitor Emma Lenanton told Taunton magistrates on Monday (April 27) Power showed 55 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, against a limit of 35 microgrammes.

Power, who pleaded guilty, was told by magistrates her ban would be reduced by 106 days if she completed a drink-drive rehabilitation course by next January.

She was also fined £160 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £60 and a victim support surcharge of £64.
