A SPECIAL unveiling of a memorial mosaic by Wiveliscombe schoolchildren took place in the town last Saturday (September 24) to mark 100 years since World War One.

The Great War Memorial Mosaic in Jubilee Gardens, along with a related book launch, was the culmination of a two-year, £10,000 Heritage Lottery Fund project, led by Wiveliscombe Civic Society.
The mosaic was unveiled by Nerys Watts, the head of the Heritage Lottery Fund in the South West, and Evelyn Cherry, a former pupil of Wiveliscombe Primary School. Evelyn also read her prize-winning poem The Poppy Field.
