ROAST chestnuts and mulled wine will help to set the scene for the grand switch-on of Wiveliscombe's Christmas lights on Wednesday (December 3).
Wiveliscombe and District Rotary Club is organising a host of Christmas activities in the area, which kicks off with the switch-on.
Father Christmas is due to arrive in The Square at 5pm, where he will join pupils from Wiveliscombe Primary School to flick the switch on the festive light display.
Local children will then be able to meet Santa in his igloo in The Square and receive a present.
There will be a ticket system so children do not have to wait too long in a queue, with tickets available to buy from 4pm onwards.
The Town Band will be playing seasonal music and a number of local shops, including Wiveliscombe House will be open late.
Wivey Rotary president David Simper said: "We are delighted that Santa in the Square is such a popular event and are very grateful to Taunton Deane Borough Council for once again supplying the Christmas lights and tree."
Over the following week Santa will tour the area, starting in Cotford St Luke on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6.
On Monday, December 8 he will be in the south and east of Wiveliscombe and on Wednesday, December 10 he will visit the north and west of the town.
Then on Tuesday, December 9 it will be Milverton's turn and on Thursday, December 11 he will be in Langley Marsh.
On Christmas Day itself Santa will visit homes delivering presents to young and old alike.
Gifts can be left with Webbers Estate Agents no later than noon on Monday, December 21 in return for a donation to good causes.
