A LOVELY afternoon was enjoyed by all who attended this year’s Withypool Flower Show and Fete.
Despite the difficult growing season, the gardeners of Withypool and Hawkridge produced some excellent exhibits, with their skills drawing admiration once again.
Possibly due to the poor weather, the home produce section saw a resurgence this year with many cakes, jams, dips, and quiches on show, along with a fine display of handicrafts.
The photography section was once again well supported with an impressive array of prints.

Lewis Zeitzen won the Hamilton Cup for the second year in a row, which is awarded for most points in the children’s section.
First time exhibitor Marcelo Alvarenga was awarded the Blue Ribbon for best exhibit in show for his wreath made from fresh flowers and foliage, a new class in the floral art section
The fete was as popular as ever with many families enjoying the games and children’s races, along with tea and cake, beside the River Barle.
The committee thanked everybody who supported the show and fete, the judges, exhibitors, stallholders, and all those who helped in any way towards the success of the day.
A substantial amount was raised for the village hall.
Next year’s date has already been fixed for Wednesday, August 21, when the show will celebrate its 70th anniversary.
