IT was not a great growing season, with late frost, extreme heat and gales, but the gardeners of Withypool and Hawkridge pulled out the stops.

They put on a grand display of exhibits at the annual Withypool Flower Show and Fete on Wednesday, August 21.

And they were well supported in all sections with entries of handicraft, cookery and photography.

Keen competition in the children’s classes saw Emily Zeitzen again just pip brother Lewis to the Hamilton Cup for most points.

The Blue Ribbon for ‘best exhibit in show’ was awarded to Elaine Bull, pictured with her daughter Grace and her crocheted jumper.

The fete, held in conjunction with the show, proved as popular as ever and a number of families eagerly joined in the games and children’s races.

The committee would like to thank all those who supported the show and fete, the judges, exhibitors, stallholders and those who helped in any way towards the success of the day.

A substantial amount was raised for the village hall.
