NETHER Stowey teenager Eleanor Jones has won a countywide competition to design a logo for a new ‘Healthy, Happy and Safe’ campaign.
The competition called for local children, including those currently in schools, to design an eye-catching logo to accompany the Somerset Public Health campaign.
Eleanor, 17, was among 20 young people who rose to the challenge during the competition’s two-week run.
She said: “The competition was brought to my attention by my family who encouraged me to give it a go and enter.
“I then set about trying to create a design that conveyed a positive and uplifting message.I hope my art may help to brighten people’s day and act as a reminder that we will get through this together.”
The judging panel included county council leader Cllr David Fothergill, Somerset’s Director of Public Health Trudi Grant, and Cllr Clare Paul, cabinet member with responsibility for public health and wellbeing.
Cllr Paul said: “It was incredibly difficult to choose a winner from such a range of brilliant entries all across different age groups. Eleanor’s design was truly beautiful and really captured the essence of Somerset, what talent she has.
“Each and every design was absolutely brilliant though, and we will be showcasing them all in due course. I hope everyone enjoyed taking part as much as we enjoyed looking through them!”
Eleanor’s logo and those created by the two runners up, Liza Wittek,12, from Bridgwater, and Lola Clark, eight, from Creech St Michael, will feature on the Healthy Somerset website.
The website includes information on how to access help and support across a range of public health topics from mental health and wellbeing, healthy living to support for victims of domestic abuse.
