THE economic downturn continued to take its toll as two Williton businesses closed their doors in the last week.

The Royal Huntsman pub put up the shutters, along with long established Jones Bakery - both in Long Street in the village.

A spokesman for Enterprise Inns, which owns the Royal Huntsman, said the pub was temporarily closed while work was carried out to prepare the premises for re-opening.

She said a new tenant had been identified and would be taking over the pub, although it was not possible to say when it would re-open.

Meanwhile, a notice on the bakery window informed customers that it would be closed until further notice.

The Free Press has been unable to contact the owners.
