Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire in West Somerset on Tuesday morning.
A crew from the Williton station attended the scene after the owner of the vehicle reported it had set on fire.
The fire brigade have confirmed the vehicle was a Vauxhall Vivaro van.
The firefighters identified that the fire was involving the engine compartment.
They extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet and the use of a thermal imaging camera. The fire was ouy just before 9am.
The engine was almost totally destroyed in the blaze. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The fire caused approximately 80 per cent fire damage to the engine compartment."
The cause of the fire was accidental.
