This summer exhibition and sale is at Piles Mill on SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER from 10am until 5pm.
The event is to be held in the new Sculpture Garden and the date marks the 10th anniversary of when the Wildlife in wood centre was opened by the late Noel Alan.
The Sculpture garden has taken several years to develop and this is the first public viewing, entrance is through an unusual tunnel gateway covered by a small roof garden and there are a variety of different gardening techniques to be observed, some perhaps even a bit 'whacky'.
The recently created Giant of Piles Mill will also be making his first appearance, standing at 9 feet tall he is constructed totally of recycled materials including parts of the 18th century water wheel. He will be at the entrance to welcome visitors and he is looking for a name, suggestions welcome once you have met him of course.
Whilst some sculptures are permanently sited many pieces are for sale, they are created by Mike Leach, Paul Iles and newcomer to the team, apprentice Oliver Downs. From owls and buzzards to mushrooms, walking sticks and garden furniture - all their work is cut in local timber. There will plenty to choose from with some delicate pieces for the house and other more robust works for the garden or patio.
The permanent exhibition (wildlifeinwood.co.uk) will also be open.
Cold refreshments will be available - donations for which will go to Selworthy Church and Blind Veterans UK, a charity for visually impaired ex-servicemen.
