CARHAMPTON Community Orchard hosted a flock of activities during its first Wildlife Week from August 13 to 20.

There was a Butterflies ’n’ Bugs day, a Moth Watch and a visit from a group of families on an environmental discovery course at Nettlecombe Court plus a raft of ’DIY’ wildlife activities for visitors throughout the week.

Many of 75 or more people who attended were newcomers to the orchard, and saw the diversity of its apple crop as well as the habitats it provides for birds, small mammals, frogs and numerous invertebrates, including crucial pollinators such as butterflies, bees and moths.
