SIR — Million of pounds from Hinkley Point C are in the pipeline for West Somerst Council – how long before they squander it on consultants or ill thought out projects (information centre for one), as we have seen so often in the past?

Where has the money gone from Morrisons' purchase of the land and the money from Aquasplash – where is that going?

Because most of the settled population of West Somerset are of the well-heeled retired variety, I personally believe that some of the council would prefer Minehead was a retirement town than a tourist town as this would mean there would be less fluctuation over the financial year.

If the council would prefer a tourist town, why doesn't it eliminate parking fees on the seafront to encourage tourists to come to Minehead?

Is the council going to waste the new funding on retired residents of Minehead or get its head out of the sand and give the visitors some decent conveniences?
