SIR — Has anyone been down to Minehead's new beach recently?

After spending millions of pounds you would expect to find maybe half a mile or so of golden sands at Somerset's premier holiday resort.

What is there are broken bottles, rubbish, empty cans, cigarette ends, dog mess and graffiti on the new sea wall.

When is the council going to buy a machine to clean the beach, keep it flat, hygienic and safe for tourists and locals alike?

If they don't do something as soon as possible, we will lose our major attraction and our tourist trade as well.
