THIS massive brown tourist sign erected this week at the new £3 million Washford Cross roundabout wrongly spells Cleeve Abbey.

The 800-year-old monastery, a Grade1 listed building, attracts over 100,000 visitors a year and already the abbey’s owners, English Heritage, have had inquiries about the name change.

A county council spokesman said: “We are aware of the error and are making arrangements for it to be corrected as soon as possible.”
