RESIDENTS living along the West Somerset coast have been warned more flooding is expected.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning at Porlock Weir after more high tides were forecast for this morning (Wednesday, March 13).

In guidance last updated on Tuesday afternoon, spokesperson said: “Flooding is expected at the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including properties on the lockside, businesses around the Harbour Masters office, Gibraltar Cottages and other low-lying properties on the B3225 at Porlock Weir.”

A separate alert has also been issued for Minehead, with residents told flooding remained “possible.” Issuing the alert the Environment Agency said: “Flooding is possible at coastal and tidal areas at Minehead, Combwich, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke, Sand Bay and Kingston Seymour.

“We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Consider activating any property flood protection products, and plan driving routes to coastal roads, which may be flooded.”
