Stoodleigh v Brompton Ralph

STOODLEIGH had the upper hand in their mid-table clash with Brompton Ralph, winning by 46 runs.

Sound batting was the key to their success, with good knocks from G Rowe, S Carey, Darren Drew and Jimmy Cridland in their 176-8 total.

Paul Poole led Brompton's reply with 61, but only D Hill (23) offered any real support and they were all out for 130 in 33.5 overs, A Pengelly taking 5-22.

Division Two

Bridgetown v Wyvern Saints

BRIDGETOWN were outplayed as visitors Wyvern Saints beat them by 23 runs.

Saints reached 207-6, helped by 47 extras, and Bridgetown know they need to bowl a tighter line if they are to stay in the Division Two promotion chase.

In reply, Miles Richards and Kenny Cross gave the home side a good start until Cross was run out, and when Richards was out for 77 Bridgetown fell away to close on 184-9.

Taunton A v Winsford

WINSFORD moved up to second place in Division Two with a four-wicket win away to Taunton A.

Taunton batted first on their new ground and made a steady start as D Pattemore (21) and N Preston (31) put on 52 for the second wicket.

An unbeaten 69 from S Hooper then helped them to a 177-6 total with Will Sherring taking 3-19.

In reply, Terry Matravers once again spearheaded Winsford's batting, his 67 giving them a good platform.

Good knocks from James How and Dave Wilson edged them towards their target and Will Sherring chipped in with an unbeaten 26 to see them home with four overs to spare.

Taunton A: 177-6 (S Hooper 69no, N Preston 31, D Pattemore 231, W Sherring 3-19, C Loosemore 2-41).

Winsford: 180-6 (T Matravers 67, W Sherring 26no, J How 26, D Wilson 18, M Gale 2-58).

Division Four

Brompton Ralph II v Dulverton

DIVISION Four leaders Dulverton were too strong for Brompton Ralph II as they kept up their 100 per cent record with a 107-run win.

Opener Dave Boyce gave them a solid start with a brisk 41 and Mark Drewer continued the good work with a chancy 78.

Dulverton passed the 200 mark for the second week running thanks to a late flurry from Craig Lewington and 35 extras. A Gilbert was the pick of the home bowlers with 4-41.

Brompton's reply began slowly against some excellent bowling from Lewington and Adrian Smith, then Neil Ferris came on to rip through the middle order and tail to finish with 5-22 off seven overs.

Only R Norman (29no) and Gilbert (21) made runs as Brompton were bowled out for 94.

Dulverton: 201-8 (M Drewer 78, D Boyce 41, C Lewington 18no, A Gilbert 4-41).

Dulverton v Stoke St Mary

THE previous week Dulverton had a comfortable 120-run win against Stoke St Mary.

Batting first they got off to a solid start with Dave Boyce (49) and Carl Hooper (29) putting on 77 for the first wicket.

Mark Drewer continued his good form with 42 and D Stone steadied the ship after a middle order wobble with a hard hit 37. At long last Craig Lewington scored some runs and helped Dulverton to a 200-9 total.

In reply, Stoke didn't find runs as easy to come by against some tight bowling, Lewington the pick with 5-20 off 12 overs. He was well backed up by Adrian Smith with 3-25 as Stoke were dismissed for 80.
