This year’s Weirfest was bigger than ever, with thousands of people flocking to Porlock Weir to take part in the annual event over the weekend.

What started life as a small beer festival at The Ship Inn (Bottom Ship) has grown into a four-day extravaganza of live music, entertainment and celebrating locally produced real ales and ciders.

The sun shone all weekend and as well as selling thousands of pints, jugs of Pimms were flying off the bar to keep thirsty customers happy.

A third bar was put in place this year alongside the pub bar and the beer tent, and the stage welcomed 12 bands to delight the crowds.

Porlock Weir-based Bake Me Crazy kept up a steady supply of cakes and sweet treats while Porlock Weir Gig Club organised a mini regatta on the Sunday and a rowing machine challenge for the quickest time over 200 metres on the Saturday, which raised £120 for Simon Antonelli and the RNLI.

Souvenir T-shirts sold out but souvenir pint glasses are still available to buy from the pub.

Landlord and Weirfest organiser Royston Connor was delighted with how the event went: “The atmosphere this year was fantastic and we had a great range of ales and ciders plus some brilliant bands,” he said.
