A weather warning for strong winds has come into force for part of West Somerset.

The alert issued by the Met Office covers the Westcountry and part of the Bristol Channel.

It extends westwards to Taunton and Minehead, and is in force from 10am to 6pm on Monday.

The Met Office said: "Strong and gusty southwesterly winds may lead to some disruption, particularly for prone high-sided vehicles."

The forecast for Watchet shows strong southwesterly winds on Monday, gusting up to 40mph overnight into Tuesday.

Rain showers through Monday are forecast to die out tomorrow which will be largely sunny and cold, with temperatures in single figures.

  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and damage to trees is also likely
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
