DULVERTON Weir and Leat Conservation Trust recently hosted a visit by senior members of Somerset West and Taunton Council.
Ward Cllr Nick Thwaites accompanied chief executive James Hassett and council leader Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts when they visited Dulverton Weir, which is in urgent need of restoration.
Afterwards they met trustees of the Dulverton Weir and Leat Conservation Trust for informal discussions.
Mr Hassett said: “We are near completion of the re-organisation of the new council which will be larger, with more resources, and radically different from West Somerset Council which covered Dulverton formerly.

Cllr Smith-Roberts said: “I have always appreciated the beauty of the weir and its importance in the history of Dulverton. Since the new administration took over in May, we have been working on budgets and priorities for the new council operations. It’s important that Dulverton Weir is safeguarded for the future.”
