SIR — Your headline 'Nuclear waste plan for Hinkley' (Free Press, May 24) has filled me with absolute horror.
The "option" of transporting nuclear waste to our part of Somerset from around the country must not be allowed to happen and I hope our elected representatives will object and fight this in the strongest possible terms.
Nuclear power has been around for over 50 years and we are still no nearer to knowing how to dispose of the waste safely.
What legacy are we leaving future generations? To object to Hinkley becoming a waste dump for other stations around the country, attend the meeting of West Somerset Council's cabinet, open to the public, on Wednesday, June 5 and email [email protected]">[email protected] by Sunday, June 9.
