I was very disappointed to read your report last week that the NHS had lost £80,000 through patients not turning up for their appointments at Minehead Hospital over the last year.
This really is unacceptable, especially as there are reminder phone calls/ texts being sent out to these people ,and other people would be thrilled to get these appointments instead of having to travel to Taunton.
On another not dissimilar subject, my husband, aged 74, has been having to travel from Minehead to Williton three times a week to have his leg dressed now for a couple of months, as apparently the surgeries at Minehead have not got any appointments or enough staf.
The staff at Williton are very nice and have been very attentive and helpful but this is just not acceptable is it?
When he has been given an appointment at Harley House or Irnham Lodge to see a practitioner and turned up for it, with the paper in his hand stating the date and time, he has been told that he hasn’t got an appointment that day!
I for one would like to know what is going on in this town as we haven’t all got the whole day to waste.
