A WATCHET couple returned home with “fairytale memories that we’ll have forever” after being invited by Prince Harry and his bride to share a grandstand view of their wedding.
“We still can’t believe it all happened -it was all so emotional and uplifting,” said Donna Stevens, who with husband Paul was given treasured “gold tickets” to Windsor Castle for their outstanding work for theior Elliot’s Touch charity.
The couple have raised more than £110,000 for Elliot’s Touch, the charity they set up after their one-year-old son died of a rare heart disease in 2015.
Chosen to go to the wedding by the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Anne Maw, Donna and Paul found themselves in a special enclosure with 1,200 community leaders, only feet away from the Royals and A-list celebrities arriving at the Chapel Royal.
“We’re still in a state of mild shock and having to pinch ourselves to be sure it really happened,” Donna said this week.”It was the most wonderful and joyous occasion.
“We met some lovely people and everyone wanted to know about Elliot’s Touch. They were amazed by the support we have had and the money we have raised.
“We came away with such happy memories which will help to take away some of the bad ones of the past.”
