BRILLIANT weather helped draw a huge crowd to one of Watchet’s most popular events – the annual wheelbarrow race on Sunday (May 29).
The event sees teams of two race around all the pubs of Watchet, drinking in each before returning to the start and finish line on The Esplanade.
As usual the race was very well supported – and the race was won in a new course record of four minutes 39 seconds (pictured).
There is also an increasingly popular fancy dress element, with first place going to Terry and Kevin Ogilvie-White as ‘I’ll be there in a minute’.
The event is organised and run by the Watchet Live and raises funds for the carnival, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary in its current form. The carnival takes place on Sunday July 3.
