MP Rachel Gilmour has promised to meet Watchet councillors at least twice a year for face to face discussions about issues in the town.

It follows a meeting between councillors and Mrs Gilmour at which they raised concerns across a number of topics, including the B3191 road closure, urban design, planning, and funding for much-needed enhancements for Watchet.

Mrs Gilmour said: “There is still much to do, but by working collaboratively we can secure a safer and more prosperous future for West Somerset.”

Watchet Mayor Cllr Loretta Whetlor said: “I was heartened to hear how she likes our town and that she visits here quite often.

“It was pleasing to hear her listen and answer questions of the councillors.

“We look forward to working in collaboration.”
