SIR — We regularly attend the Dunster by Candlelight event and look forward to it every year.
I know it was a few weeks ago, but wanted to comment on the transport situation.
I decided to take the whole family, including my elderly parents, from the Wheddon Cross park and ride for the first time.
With only one large coach operating and a minibus, it meant over an hour's wait in the unlit cold, car park, which for the youngsters was okay but for my parents, both in their 80s, this turned out to be a trial.

Government should give Westcountry 'fair share' of funding says Exmoor campaignerSo much so that by the time they got to Dunster they were so cold that they needed to take refuge to warm up in the Foresters. My sincere gratitude to the landlord and landlady who kindly found them somewhere to sit even though they were packed out.
I really think that as a minimum, it should be made clear what the likely waiting times are and that there is absolutely no cover/shelter or facilities for anyone at this park and ride who may require it, ie the very young or elderly or disabled.
It was clear that the staff on the bus knew this was an issue and did their best, but clearly this was out of their control and down to the organisers who had not scheduled enough transport.
I would be interested to hear what the plans are for next year as the event itself is great, but with experiences like ours in terms of access I am concerned that people will be put off.
As a minimum, people in our situation should be aware.
Paul Brandwood,
Monksilver.
