THE West Somerset Steam Railway Trust is appealing for volunteers at the Blue Anchor Museum and The Gauge Museum, Bishops Lydeard.
This year, the Blue Anchor Museum was open and staffed every Sunday, bank holiday and railway gala day.
Now the trust intends to achieve the same manning levels at both museums from the gala in March to the last one in November.
The Gauge Museum will be open but not staffed on all running days and the model railway in the Bishops Lydeard museum will be open for as many days as volunteers make possible.
Volunteering at the museums is not an onerous task – people just need to be there and able to talk to the visitors. Training will be given.
Opening hours are normally between 10am and 4pm, depending on the number of visitors around).
Anyone able to help should contact David Baker at [email protected] stating whether they would like to help at Blue Anchor Museum, the Gauge Museum or the model railway.
* Limited edition souvenir mugs depicting the sleeping car 9038 will be available from the Blue Anchor and Bishops Lydeard museums or at events where the steam trust has a stand.
There will be only 144 mugs and cost £5 each, or £4.50 for those with a current Steam Trust membership card, which must be produced on purchasing.
The mugs can be pre-ordered from David Baker but must be collected from the steam trust.
